Every Gear Envy listing carries a cancellation tier the owner picks — you'll always see it on the listing before you book, never buried in terms afterwards.
Flexible
The easy-going one
Cancel any time before the rental starts for a 100% refund, no cancellation fee. Once the hire period has started there is no refund.
Moderate
The middle ground
Cancel 24 hours or more before the rental starts for a 100% refund; inside 24 hours, 50%. Once the hire period has started there is no refund.
Strict
The committed one
Cancel 72 hours or more before the rental starts for a 100% refund; between 24 and 72 hours, 50%; inside 24 hours, no refund.
How timing is measured
- The clock runs to midnight at the start of the rental range in Sydney time.
- The refund is calculated from the hire price and the renter service fee is refunded in the same proportion.
- An owner's 24-hour response window can lapse before a request is approved; in that case the hold is released and the renter is not charged.
- The bond is a separate temporary hold. A cancelled booking never captures it.
